Texas A&M Tops Irish for First N.C.A.A. Basketball Title

Texas A&M defeated the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 76-70,
winning its first championship in school history.

It was far from an easy road to the title; the Aggies had to
go through No. 1 seeds Baylor and Stanford just to get to the
title game. But led by senior Danielle Adams, the Aggies were
able to overpower Notre Dame, despite blowing a 13-point
first-half lead.

Adams finished with a game-high 30 points and added nine
rebounds, capping a season that included All-American honors.

Connecticut's Epic Run Ends With N.C.A.A. Championship

After losing four of their last five regular season games,
the Connecticut Huskies rallied to win their next 11 games,
ending with a 53-41 victory over the Butler Bulldogs to win
their third national championship.

The Huskies and their star guard Kemba Walker took advantage
of some poor shooting by Butler in the second half, turning a
3-point halftime deficit into a commanding double-digit lead.
Walker had a team-high 16 points, and forwards Jeremy Lamb
and Alex Oriakhi chipped in with 12 and 11 points,
respectively.

It is the Huskies' first national championship since 2004.

Boeing Recommends All Airlines Check Older 737 Planes for Fatigue Cracks

Boeing said on Monday that it was issuing a bulletin to
airlines that fly some older models of its 737 jet, calling
for special inspections of the lap joints in the fuselages of
the planes. The action follows an incident where a hole blew
open in the fuselage of a Southwest Airlines 737-300 while in
flight, causing an emergency landing but no injuries, and the
discovery of cracks in two more of the airline's 737 jets.
Boeing said that data from the airline and from the National
Transportation Safety Board prompted the inspection bulletin.
The 737, sold in various models since the 1960s, is the most
popular and widely used jetliner in the world.

Khalid Shaikh Mohammed to Be Tried by Military Commission at Guantánamo, in Reversal

In a major reversal, the Obama administration has decided to
try Khalid Sheikh Mohammed for his role in the attacks of
Sept. 11 before a military commission at Guantánamo Bay,
Cuba, and not in a civilian courtroom.

Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. is expected to announce
on Monday afternoon that Mr. Mohammed, the self-described
mastermind of the attacks, and four other accused
conspirators will face charges before a panel of military
officers, a law enforcement official said. The Justice
Department has scheduled a press conference for 2 p.m.
Eastern time.

Mr. Holder, who had wanted to prosecute Mr. Mohammed before a
regular civilian court in New York City, changed his mind
after Congress imposed a series of restrictions barring the
transfer of Guantánamo detainees into the United States,
making such a trial impossible for now, the official said.
